An oil spill occurred on Shanghai's Huangpu River, China is threatening the environment and domestic water supplies in the region.
The Chinese media reported that an oil tank had spilled about 45 tons of oil into the Huangpu River in Shanghai City. The Chinese press reported that the oil spill happened from Monday night 9 April and was controlled since April 10 morning. However, the authorities still have to mobilize 3 more filter vessels to control water resources.
The cause of the oil spill caused by the technical fault of Zhabei power plant staff did not control the pipeline while filling the factory. These employees did not control the valve that closed the pipeline from a transport vessel into the storage tanks of the factory. When the fuel tanks are full, the oil continues to be pumped out to spill oil on the Huangpu River.
The Shanghai city government also said that three water treatment stations providing clean water for the area along the Huangpu River are also under strict control to ensure hygiene for the water supply.
The Chinese Maritime Administration said the salvage and oil handling facilities are still being mobilized to clean up the area's sores.
The Chinese Maritime Administration also entered the fight with oil spills.
