Sharks kill surfers

A 38-year-old surfer died after being attacked by sharks on the coast of California, USA.

Local police said, when witnessing the incident, the friend of the ill-fated man swam to help but not because the wound was too heavy."In recent times, we have seen a lot of sharks appear in Santa Barbara waters , " the BBC quoted police chief Erik Raney as saying.

Officials advise people not to bathe at Surf Beach until informed.

This is the second deadly shark attack in the last two years at the Surf Coast, in Santa Barbara. Two years ago, on October 22, Lucas Ransom was a victim of white sharks when he was surfing on the coast.

According to the University of Florida statistics, the number of cases of shark attacks and kills in 2011 doubled in 2010. The top countries with shark attacks and deaths are Australia with 11. attacked, followed by South Africa, two islands of France: Reunion and Seychelles. Other countries have been attacked regularly by sharks but have no deaths including Indonesia, Mexico, Russia and Brazil.

The cause according to experts is because the growth in tourism and the habit of sharks changes due to global warming.

Sharks are groups of cartilage fish, hydrodynamic bodies easily turn water, with 5 to 7 gill slots along each side or near the head. Sharks include species of size just like the hands of Euprotomicrus bispinatus, a seafowl just 2cm long, to the giant whale shark Rhincodon typus, the largest fish 12m long, equivalent to one whale. In the world there are more than 300 species of sharks, but only 30 species are dangerous to humans.
