Rootkits are a collection of hackers' tools that help them exploit administrator-level access control security flaws on 'kidnapped' systems. This tool is also used to conceal other malicious software such as keyloggers, trojans, viruses . before the eyes of security software. This is the most dangerous type of malware.

Sophos Anti-Rootkit is compatible with Windows NT, 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003. The program also has an easy-to-use graphical console that helps users during malware detection and removal.

Since Sony BMG Entertainment's anti-piracy software has been found to have similar features as rootkits, security experts have begun to pay more attention to this type of malware.
