David Lennon, though only 18 years old, was sentenced to a two-month suspended sentence for "bombing" the company's server that fired him with more than 5 million emails.

Before court Lennon admitted in 2004 he has been continuously sending 5 million e-mail messages to Domestic & General Group's email servers for 5 days, causing the server to stop working.

However, at the time of the attack, Lenon was only 16 years old, so he was still treated as a minor. Earlier, Lenon added to Domestic And General Group and was fired in 2003.

Lennon's consequences

Yesterday, the court decided to punish Lennon for two months of imprisonment for violating the Law to ban the use of computers for wrong purposes. Accordingly, Lennon will have to stay at home for the period specified by the court. If he violates this suspended sentence, Lennon will be able to face a heavier penalty.

Prosecutors in the court also decided to reject the requirement of Domestic & General Group demanding that Lennon pay $ 55,000 for having shut down its server.

The law forbids the use of British computer for wrong purposes, which was introduced in 1990, which stipulates actions to illegally access and edit computer resources. Lennon was convicted of violating clause 3 of this law.

It can be said that the Law banning the use of computers for wrong purposes is considered a measure of the UK government in the fight against cybercrime that is growing strongly. The British government has also continuously revised and updated this law to suit the reality.
