Strange eggs spew out from the Hawaii crater

The hollow black egg-shaped object is located at the mouth of a volcanic active volcano in Hawaii, USA, dubbed the "tears of the goddess of fire".

On January 8, the lava lake on Kilauea Crater in Hawaii, USA, erupted, sending volcanic rock debris into the air. However, at the end of the day, on the edge of Halema'uma'u hole at an altitude of 110m from the lava lake surface, Tim Orr, geologist at the Hawaii Volcanic Observatory (HVO), discovered a strange object .

"It has a spherical shape, completely hollow inside and out, a thin fragile glass shell , " said Janet Babb, geologist and information officer at the observation post, sharing with The Huffington Post.

Scientists call the object "Pele's cold tears" to refer to Hawaii's fire goddess and tear-shaped glass molecules formed when molten lava cools. The egg was longer than a centimeter more likely to fire from the lava lake after the eruption, when the lake boiled violently.

Rock collapse and post-eruption events are relatively common in lava lakes. They happened unexpectedly, causing molten lava, rock debris and ash to rise high. According to HVO, the event on Friday is the third eruption of Kilauea volcano within a week.

Babb said there are many types of debris shot from lava lakes. In addition to "Pele's tears", lava also forms "Pele's hair" - fragile yellow strands of fragile glass and "Pele's seaweed" - volcanic glass sheets formed under the action of the wind .
