Strange things happen to the body when sinking to sleep

Sleep is one of the basic needs of the body and is also the most relaxing time in every person's life.

So far scientists in the field of neuroscience and psychology are still actively researching to answer many mysteries surrounding this seemingly inevitable physical activity.

The Bright Side page lists eight strange things about our sleep.

1. The body is paralyzed

Sleep is the time for growth hormone to grow.

When a person enters REM (Rapid Eye Movement) - the deepest stage of a sleep, the muscles in his or her limbs will be completely paralyzed and temporarily unable to move.

Some people suffer from a special sleep disorder when their bodies are still paralyzed for a few seconds or even minutes after waking up.

2. Eyes move at high speed

All stages of sleep are directed towards a special goal of keeping the body and brain relaxed. Sleep is divided into 5 stages where the later stage is always deeper than the previous period. When a person has gone through all these stages, a new cycle begins.

The final stage - REM is always the most active and usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes from the time you fall asleep. At this stage, the eyes move back and forth at the fastest speed. Of course people cannot realize this because at that time their whole mind is focused on the dream.

3. Growth hormone is released

HGH - human growth hormone, responsible for bone, muscle and tissue regeneration. When a person sleeps, the production of HGH is activated throughout the body. This process contributes to wound healing and cell regeneration.

For young people, HGH promotes growth and has many other effects on the body. Therefore, some people may say that they are elevated even during sleep.

4. The throat is narrowed

The muscles that keep the throat open when a person is awake is also rested when the person goes to sleep, resulting in a reduced size of the throat. This is one of the causes of snoring with uncomfortable noises.

5. The phenomenon of grinding teeth

The phenomenon of teeth grinding occurs in some people.

Some people may wake up with a painful jaw due to grinding their teeth all night. This phenomenon may stem from morphological "errors" with incomplete jaw bone structure.

It may also be a psychological sign that the body wants to release stress feelings accumulated during the day. However, studies have not yet elucidated why teeth grinding occurs only with certain objects and not for everyone.

6. The brain releases information and creates dreams

Today, people have learned that the brain creates the dream domain from the memory present in everyday life as well as from the deep subconscious.

In other words, mysterious and sometimes absurd dreams are actually a combination of recent experiences and information we accumulated over the years: memories, psychological trauma, emotions and feelings.

Even so, progressive science has yet to determine why the dream of the human mind only travels to certain places or why we choose only memories, colors, voices, scenes objects and people that are not memories, colors, voices, scenes and other people.

7. Syndrome explodes in the head

"Bursting in the head" does not cause physical pain, but can have a serious psychological impact.

"Exploding in the head" is a rare phenomenon but can still happen. People who experience this symptom will feel their heads have just exploded or think they have heard a loud sound, such as gunshots that wake them up, feeling terrified and suffering tremendously.

In fact, the outside world is still safe and all these things just happen in their minds."Bursting in the head" does not cause physical pain, but can have a serious psychological impact.

8. The brain is restored and discharged

Researchers at the University of Rochester found that when a human brain sleeps, a mechanism that helps flush "waste" that accumulates during the day.

This mechanism is called glymphatic system - the system that cleans the central nervous system. Once activated, it allows the brain to remove useless information and only retain the supposedly important information.
