When studying how birds learn a new song, the team of Hunter University in Manhattan (USA) finds that the knots are unique, meaning a simple transition in pronunciation.

This suggests that learning how to switch between syllables is a barrier between babbling and real speech, according to the Nature report.

'We have found an unprecedented trait in the development of speaking skills , ' The New York Times quoted lead researcher Dina Lipkind as saying.

Accordingly, babbling sounds are not only sound learning behavior, but also learning how to switch between sounds.

The study promises to open a new research pathway that will lead to the adjustment of speech dysfunction in humans.
