Teach dolphins to use weapons

The Ukrainian Navy will train dolphins to use special guns and knives to fight underwater enemies.
The former Soviet army once trained dolphins to fight underwater
and today that dolphin unit is owned by Ukraine.
RIA Novosti said the Ukrainian navy has just launched a training program for dolphins. The dolphins participating in the program will be fitted with a special pistol and knife to head to fight underwater. In addition, they are trained to detect mines.
"Dolphins will be trained to fight people with underwater weapons to protect the ship," said an unnamed Ukrainian naval official.
Training dolphins for military purposes is not new or secret. The US Navy once taught dolphins how to detect mines and attach equipment to dolphin bodies to prevent enemy divers from entering ports. The former Soviet army once conducted a dolphin training program in the Black Sea port of Sevastopol until the Soviet Union disintegrated. Today dolphin units are still "stationed" in the port of Sevastopol, but their ownership has belonged to Ukraine. Those dolphins perform civilian tasks like playing with disabled children.
Some marine animal experts are concerned that the policy of equipping dolphins may lead to unpredictable consequences. For example, they cannot distinguish friends and enemies.
"Because dolphins cannot perceive the difference between allied and enemy ships, giving them the right to decide to attack may be unwise. If the Ukrainian navy is armed with dolphins Their admirers should keep in mind our warnings , " the US Navy announced.
