NASA has discovered the remnants of the 10,500-year-old settlement in Oklahoma, USA, home to an ancient tribe, Sun reported on November 29.

By using a laser remote sensing device called lidar to enlarge the image of the Beaver River, west of Oklahoma, the researchers recognized the contours of a settlement within the forest, as well as signs of bone and subsurface fossils.
Experts believe that a tribe used to live here in the Stone Age. They put the bison in the dead end and killed them as food.
"NASA devices are very useful. It shows where we need to focus our searches, helping us save time and effort," said Lee Bement , an archaeologist.
Previously, remote sensing devices were used by NASA to detect signs of snow falling on the surface of Mars.
"Lidar cannot help you excavate bison bones, but it can show geological features that show a place worth researching," said Meg Watters, a remote sensing expert.
