Scientists at Columbia University in New York have created a mChip portable blood transfusion device that can detect nearly 100% of the HIV virus. Hundreds of tests have been conducted in the town of Kigali in Rwanda, with up to 95% accuracy in the HIV virus and 76% in the syphilis.
According to the Daily Mail , mChip devices are made of plastic, so it's very cheap at just $ 1 per unit. In addition, the device is designed with a compact credit card, which can be stored in a wallet or pocket.

Dr Samuel Sia, head of research, said: "The idea of the study is to create mobile test devices that can reach patients anywhere in the world, Instead of taking them to medical facilities for blood and having to wait several days to know the results. '
The mChip device consists of 10 different optical sensing regions and when blood samples pass through these areas it returns a positive or negative result for HIV / AIDS or syphilis within 15 minutes. The results are simply expressed in the same color code as the pregnancy test. Therefore, this device is easy to understand and easy to use.
With low cost and high efficiency, the mChip has been rated as an important breakthrough in the fight against HIV in developing countries. The device can help volunteers shorten the time for high-precision HIV testing to 15 minutes.
Scientists are hoping mChips will help to test sexually transmitted diseases in pregnant women in African countries.
