The first meeting between Rebekah Aversano, Joshua's older sister, and Norris was touched by Australia's "60 Minutes " program at the man's home in the United States. The show trailer did not mention the time of the meeting.
"Do you mind if I touch your face? " Rebekah asked.
Rebekah put his hand on Norris, 39, and said, " Wow, this is a familiar face growing up with me . " It was the first time she had seen it with her own eyes, felt and touched the face of the late Joshua and now on another man's body.
After many surgeries, the University of Maryland doctor told Norris that face transplant is the best way for him to return to life, even though the patient has only 50% chance of survival.
The Rebekah family later decided to donate Joshua's face to Norris. The 36-hour surgery took place in March 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center and is the 23rd face transplant in history .
CTV News quoted Mrs. Gwen, Joshua's mother, sharing doctors saying Norris might not look like her son. However, after meeting Norris, she noticed that the man's face was completely Joshua's.
Not only is there a chance to live, Norris still finds love.
According to the NY Daily News, the meeting between Norris and Rebekah will be fully broadcast later this week.
