A 10-year-old girl in England survived miraculously after lightning passed through the window of the family's house, hitting her.

Erin Moran was sitting by the window of the girl's room on the attic of the house in Merthyr Tydfil, south of Wales on May 9 to watch the thunderstorm strike through the window into her left arm. Lightning passed through her body, disappearing through Erin's right big toe before leaving a trail of fire on the floor carpet.

The lightning strike left Erin's left shoulder with red cracks and a red dot on her big toe, but she survived miraculously and even very well. Erin went to school normally again a day later. Erin's parents, Rhian and Mark, both 40, immediately took their daughter to the hospital, where she was treated after a lightning strike.

' Suddenly there was a loud explosion, and then we heard Erin's scream. She ran downstairs. We just thought she was frightened by the thunderbolt , 'recalls Mark Moran.

But Mr. Mark said, when Erin began to complain of pain in his left shoulder and toes, the couple understood that it was necessary to take their daughter to the hospital. ' Erin is a very lucky girl. Lightning has passed through her body. The doctors were very surprised, ' said the father of two children.

Lightning hit 3 houses on Mark's street on May 9.

'It's terrible, it's like a bomb, ' said Wayne Cunningham, 49, a Moran family neighbor.

Professor Martin Uman, a lightning expert at the University of Florida , said the lightning strike through the window is very rare.
