The mother and son's head left in front of the head wearing a gold feathered coat
The mother and child remains were discovered in a 2,500-year-old tomb with a skull and body separated from each other so scientists could not explain.
The strange tomb found by Russian archaeologists in the Altai Mountains of Siberia, at the Taldur II burial site of the ancient Pazyryk civilization , Mirror on September 26 reported. The tomb dates to about 2,500 years, containing the remains of a woman and a child.

Both mother and daughter wore yellow inlaid fur but no head. Archaeological group found the skull of the mother and son were away from the body. They are trying to understand whether this is an ancient Siberian custom or there is still another explanation.
"The vestiges of fur coats remain. This is evidence that the dead are dressed warmly with the belief that they can withstand the cold air of Siberia mountains when they depart to the afterlife" , archaeologists commented.

In the grave there are two small copper mirrors, some ceramic pots showing the tomb dating from about 2,500 years. The team also dug up some intact ancient gold leaves, which could be attached to the costumes of the mother and daughter.
Headless burial is a characteristic of this period. However, this tomb is completely different from every burial site of the previously studied Pazyryk. According to Dr. Nikita Konstantinov of Gorno-Altaisk University, the burial of the headless remains from the war. The victors often cut the loser's head to show off their strength, so the skull was never buried with the body.
The team could not explain why the dead were decapitated and buried their heads away from their bodies.(Photo: East2West).
The case of newly discovered mother and daughter bodies is confusing because archaeologists have never encountered a headless child grave. Careful burial and beautiful artifacts and costumes for the dead indicate that they are not enemies of the tribe.
The team hypothesized that the tomb was once stolen and grave thieves severed the head of the body to prevent dead or haunted dead, but the skeleton was not disturbed and there were no traces of intrusion. Scientists say they have not been able to explain this finding because no similar case has occurred.
