The ocean in the world is increasingly degraded and marine life is facing serious extinction unprecedented in human history, scientists study warning seas.

Leading international experts on marine research yesterday submitted to the United Nations a warning report about the pollution of the ocean and the danger of extinction of marine species.

Coral reefs are in danger of disappearing completely

AP quoted Carl Gustaf Lundin, head of the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Global Marine Protection Program (IUCN): " The ocean is destroying faster than what we warn and predict. before ".

According to Lundin, the ocean is suffering from many factors such as environmental pollution from industrial and agricultural wastes, excessive human indiscriminate fishing that causes sea pollution to increase.

Scientists also report that marine species are facing the risk of complete disappearance, especially coral reefs that are standing on the verge of mass extinction. " Now we are faced with the complete disappearance of marine species and the entire marine ecosystem as coral reefs within just one generation, " the report said.

' The results really stunned. We are looking at the human-induced aggregate impact on the ocean, its consequences are worse than what we each recognize, 'said Alex Rogers, director of international ocean research programs. (IPSO) at Oxford University (UK) said on AFP.

" Sea degradation is faster than what we see, " added Alex Rogers.

The main cause of this situation, according to scientists' reports, is due to the combined impact of many factors such as overfishing of humans, habitat loss, and Global warming creates a change in habitat for marine species.

In addition, waste from fossil fuel extraction, or gas from the sea or from people's daily lives adversely affects the ocean and marine life.

The ocean cannot recover as before, but Mr. Lundin still hopes to improve this situation if people make timely changes and have a sense of environmental protection.

Previously, the same effects that had led to catastrophic mass extinctions of earthly creatures, especially the disaster that took place at the end of the Permian (251 million years ago), are believed to have cleared 70 % of terrestrial species and 96% of aquatic species.
