A spokesman for the Health Protection Center (Hong Kong) said the test showed that the boy died on June 21 due to scarlet fever. Currently the two brothers of the boy (7 and 13 years old) are also monitored and are waiting for the results of disease testing.

This is the second death due to scarlet fever since the outbreak of the disease in Hong Kong. Earlier, the disease also caused a 7-year-old girl to die last month and there were thousands of people in southern China infected.
According to the spokesman, there are 28 new cases since June 21 in Hong Kong, bringing the number of cases from the beginning of the year to this number to 494 cases (mostly children under 10 years old).
