The robot understands the thoughts of the paralyzed

Good news for paralyzed people when scientists have just tested a robot that can understand the minds of patients and perform the simple operations that patients require through their thinking.

>>> Control the robot by signaling the brain

Robot can act according to human thinking

The experiment was performed on a woman with mobility impairment and a man with paralysis of both hands and feet. A 4mm x 4mm chip carrying 96 electrodes is implanted in the base of the brain. This is the area of the brain that controls the movement of the limbs. Doctors said the robot contained the same brain-like interface and performed all the movements and movements that the patient was thinking. The patient feels as though he or she is doing simple moves such as eating himself easily without the help of others.

The brain transplant has lasted for five years and now both can use the robot arm to perform more sophisticated actions. They also feel their naturalness and comfort as their own wrists and hands are moving.

Previous studies have also used robots with similar functions to control computer monitors on the screen or to control wheelchair equipment. This test shows that the brain cells used to control the actions of the hands and wrists are able to produce control signals even when they are not used for 15 years.

This is a big step forward in the field of science and technology when a 3D space robot is born. This is also good news for patients with paralyzed limbs. Now there is a way to help them restore some of their functional mobility, said Brown University Dr John Donoghue, lead author of the study.
