The temperature of the Earth approaches

AFP on May 30 reported that world greenhouse gas emissions are rising to a record high, contributing to pushing the Earth's temperature closer to 'danger threshold' - an additional 2 ° C. These are noted in the recently published report of the International Energy Organization (IEA).

Rapid growth, temperature also increased

IEA said that in 2010, the economy of many countries has escaped the recession, regaining strong growth momentum. However, this also causes Earth's atmosphere to experience a huge amount of emissions: 1.6 trillion CO 2 , the highest ever.

Mr. Faith Birol, an IEA official, said: ' This is bad news for efforts to reduce emissions' . Many scientists believe that if the Earth's temperature increased by 2 ° C, the sea level rose by more than 1 meter, many parts of the world would suffer more severe disasters than today.

According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), since 2009, CO 2 and methane levels have increased significantly in 2009. Before 1950, the atmospheric CO 2 content remained unchanged but since then, this gas content increased by 38%, mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and changes in land use.

In terms of methane, the second largest greenhouse gas, this gas content in the atmosphere has also increased by 158%, mainly due to human activities such as cattle raising, rice cultivation and exploitation. Fossil fuels and waste dumps. Therefore, humanity is getting deeper and deeper into the disaster of water shortage, lack of clean air, and lack of food due to climate change.

Just add a report, an investigation, experts are more pessimistic. The latest report by the GIEC Climate Experts Group, often less interested in islands at the two ends of the globe, has to admit increasing melting scale and velocity. The area of ice lost 30% according to satellite images at the end of 2007. The climate in the South Pole also warmed up and made many ice floes. The ice melts quickly, making the sea level rise higher.

Avoid responsibility

The IEA reports that countries with emerging economies account for three-quarters of the world's emissions. In particular, China is the most exhausting country. China may face increasing pressures in international climate negotiations, after BP's new figures show that CO 2 emissions in the country have increased by 9% in 2009. .

According to BP, greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels such as oil and coal in China have increased to 7.5 billion tons in 2009 .

Thus, China has become the world's second-largest economy of carbon dioxide emissions and become the first country to emit more than 7 billion tons of CO2 per year. In fact, the amount of emissions in China has increased sharply in the past 10 years because the country built a series of new thermal power plants to meet its fast growing economy.

The Chinese side said that in order to ensure stable economic development and well implement flexible policies to save energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions is not easy for China and most countries. growing in the current context. The United States and China, the two countries that produce the most carbon emissions in the world, are still in dispute.

China believes that developing countries should be exempted from the obligation to make commitments because they need to develop their economies and improve people's living standards. China hopes the United States will assume the leading role and steer the entire negotiation process at the UN- organized international climate conference .

Meanwhile, Washington wants China and developing countries to commit to reducing emissions by specific numbers and under the supervision of the international community.
