The latest edition of Digital Economy Fact Book 's Annual Digital Data Chronicle published by US-based Freedom and Progress Organization (PFF) yesterday confirmed by the end of last year the number of people Access to global information networks has increased by more than 600 million from 420 million recorded in 2000.

The top three countries in the world in terms of Internet users are the US (197.8 million), China (119.5 million) and Japan (86.3 million).

English is the language used by 312.8 million people worldwide. Second is Chinese with 132.3 million people.

As for e-mail, the PFF document said that in the first half of this year, only 20% of e-mail traffic on the network was a true transaction message. 9% of all emails do not find any addresses, while 3% contain viruses and 1% are phishing emails (phishing).

Nearly 44% of spam comes from the US and 13.6% comes from China. 52.2% of spams carry pharmaceutical-related content, especially up to 15.5% of spam advertising products that increase male genital size.
