There will be many delicious apples thanks to the new genome map

In a report published in the journal Nature-Genetics, an international team of scientists said they have successfully mapped the genome map of the Golden Delicious apple.

The results of this study have important implications for analyzing the status of apples on genetic basis, thereby helping to create many new high quality apple species.

Research results show that the genome of Golden Delicious apple contains more than 700 million base pairs, including a duplicate gene segment. Scientists say this duplicate gene gives apples more chromosome pairs.

Through genetic analysis, scientists also verified the ' status ' of the apple species. The evolutionary separation between apples and other ' friendly ' fruit species may occur about 50 million to 60 million years ago, just as the Earth experienced a major disaster.

To step by step adapt to the disaster, the ancestors of the apple species have gradually been genetically modified, and eventually evolved into today's apple species.
