Hurricane 5 is moving fast at a speed of 15-20km / h and continues to intensify. The storm is expected to reach Quang Ngai - Khanh Hoa in the afternoon.

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, on October 30 morning, typhoon No. 5 (international name is Matmo) continued to strengthen. At 7am, the storm center is located in the northwestern area of ​​the Spratly Islands. Currently, the storm is about 260 km to the east of the provinces of Binh Dinh - Khanh Hoa with the strongest wind near the center reaching level 9, level 11.

Hurricane moves fast, wind level 11-12

During the day, storms move rapidly mainly in the west with a speed of 15-20 km / h and are likely to be stronger. By 19h on 30/10, the storm was on the coastal area of ​​provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa with the strongest wind near the center at level 9 (90 km / h), level 11-12.

In the following hours, Typhoon Matmo remained the same speed and intensity, headed west and went inland from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa and gradually weakened into tropical depression and low pressure.

Until 7am on October 31, the center of the low pressure area in the eastern region of Cambodia.

Due to the impact of the storm, in the north and the middle of the South China Sea, there are strong winds of level 7-8, the area near the center of the storm passes level 9, level 11-12; The sea is very strong.

The waters off the provinces from Quang Ngai to Ninh Thuan (including Ly Son island district) have strong winds gradually reaching level 7, the area near the center of the storm going through level 8-9, level 11-12, high waves 3 -5 m, near the storm center 4-7 m.

The South of Tonkin Gulf and the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Nam have strong northeast wind of grade 6 and level 8; rough sea.

From noon and this afternoon (October 30) , on the mainland of Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces, there is strong winds of 6-7 levels, later it rises to grades 7-8 and level 10-11; Da Nang, Quang Nam have strong winds level 6-7, level 9 shock; Ninh Thuan has a gust 6-7; Gia Lai, Dak Lak strong wind level 6, shock level 7.

Very heavy rain in Central Vietnam and Central Highlands

On October 30 to 31, rain from Thua Thien - Hue to Ninh Thuan and the Central Highlands region rained heavily. The total amount of precipitation in the areas during the spell can reach 300-400 mm. Heavy rains can concentrate most in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa with a total of 400-600 mm / batch.

Heavy rains will continue in these areas, then expand to the North Central region on October 31-2 / 11. During this period, the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien - Hue rained heavily with a total of 300-500 mm / batch.

Facing complicated storm situation, on October 29, Khanh Hoa People's Committee sent an emergency dispatch to agencies and agencies to cope with tropical depressions, storms and floods in the province.

Khanh Hoa province directs the Department of Education and Training, secondary schools, colleges, universities and facilities in the area for pupils and students to leave school in 2 days 30-31 / 10.

The province also banned the sea, not allowing fishing vessels, cruise ships and watercraft to go to sea after 12pm on October 30. For the fishermen, the aquaculture households in cages in the sea must land before 16h on 30/10.
