This sword was found in December 1965 in Hubei Province, China, in a grave about 7km away from Dinh Nam, the former capital of the country. It was placed in a black lacquer wooden sack, next to a skeleton. After drawing the sword out of the sheath, archaeologists found the sword still sharp and shiny, despite having been in a flooded tomb for more than 2,000 years.
On one side of the sword, there are two lines of ancient letters, of which 8 characters are written in the same way, and later decoded as "Viet Vuong" and "self-employed" (self-made sword for use). The other two words are likely the name of one of the Viet Vuong's lives.
Since the sword was built in 510 BC until the time when Vietnam was annexed by Chu in 334 BC, there were nine Viet kings ruling, the most famous being the Tzu. The identity of the king carved on the sword has caused great controversy among scholars.
After more than two months of discussion, the researchers agreed that the first owner of this sword was the Legend, the king famous for his patience in Chinese history.
