The vaccine called Twinrix TM, which can protect people injected with two hepatitis A and B infections, was introduced yesterday by Glaxo - SmithKline.

The advantage of this new vaccine is to help reduce the number of injections (from five to two for children aged 1-15 years and from five to less than three for adults).

So far, Twinrix TM is the only vaccine to coordinate the two diseases. This vaccine has been licensed for circulation in 70 countries around the world. In Vietnam, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has produced hepatitis A and B vaccines, but in its own form and the agency has been preparing to produce coordinated vaccines since 2006.
