The snake opened its mouth and remained motionless, letting the American expert lift it up and put it down in the wilderness park in Texas.
Expert Eric Johnson caught a water snake in a wild park in Mission City, Texas. At first he tried to pull himself out, but when he realized he couldn't escape, he was motionless, opening his mouth to death, letting Johnson touch him, according to Carter News.
The snake opened its mouth to die, despite the American expert holding it up.
When Johnson moved away, the snake "revived". When he approached it again, the snake continued to die.
"I've never seen this before. I'm not sure if this is the snake's defensive behavior or any other reason," Johnson said. "This behavior has been reported in some snakes, but has never been recorded in this species."
The snake in the video has the scientific name Drymarchon couperi , a species in the Snake family . Kristen Wiley, Kentucky zoo director, said there was not enough evidence to conclude the "fake dead" snake .
"There are many factors that explain this behavior. It is possible that it is injured or is sick. We do not know if the snake is being chased, resulting in exhaustion or shock before the video is recorded."
