Video: The pencil becomes a tree planting tool
Thanks to the seed attached at the end, discarded pieces of pencil will help the seedlings to germinate when plugged into the ground and watered.
A pencil like the one in the video can be planted. It was developed by Danish consumer goods company, Sprout World and this is how it works.
Sprout pencil is made from cedar wood.
Sprout pencil is made from cedar wood. When the pen is too short or out of use, the end of the pen can be used for planting.
A seed capsule is attached to the end of the pencil. When the pencil meets water, these follicles will melt and the seed is stimulated. Just plug the tail of the pencil into the soil and water it just right, the seed will germinate and grow into a seedling in just one week.
Sprout pencil has more than 20 different varieties and names of each are engraved outside the pen body.
