Vietnam announced the barcode management software for barcode management

Through barcode scanning software, management agencies, businesses and consumers can control product quality.

On May 30, General Department of Standards - Measurement - Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology) announced Scan and Check barcode scanning software . It can be used on Android and IOS operating systems, allowing checking the legality and origin of goods. This is also the official software of the country that was first announced.

For consumers, Scan and Check provides information about brand owners, goods products declared by the manufacturers themselves. For state management agencies, the software helps to check the valid status of national barcode codes on products. Enterprises can use the first bar code 893 (country code) to promote the brand image, detailed information about goods products to the domestic and foreign markets.

Mr. Tran Van Vinh, Director General of Standards - Measurement - Quality, said that since 1995, Vietnam has granted barcode to enterprises, but this activity has not been effective. Codes and bar codes look like 'identity cards', each business is only granted one code. But businesses do not fully update the product's information on that 'identity card' to promote their image and protect their brand. Since then, management agencies have difficulty controlling and consumers do not know for sure whether the products they buy are true of genuine or floating businesses.

Updating the full information via barcode also helps enterprises manage each product, know the production status of the shipment, the origin of materials and know which goods have been delivered to any distribution center. Which position is in stock. If it is possible to find out exactly where the package is located manually, it may take months, but barcode scanning will take only 3 seconds.

Currently, Vietnam has 25,000 enterprises granted bar code numbers, of which up to 15,000 units have stopped operating or have their business codes revoked. According to Mr. Vinh, the construction and publication of software will contribute to support management agencies, businesses and consumers more convenient in managing, updating traffic information, controlling goods quality.

In 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology will inspect barcodes and codes at enterprises. From the third quarter of 2019, the International Code Barcode Organization (GS1), which Vietnam is a member, requires all enterprises with export goods to update all seven attributes of the goods to the data system. Data cloud (iCloud). Seven attributes include: global trade code, product brand, product description, owner name, product image, target market, global product classification. If not synchronous, unifying these parameters, enterprises exporting or selling directly on the Internet will not sell goods.
