On August 12, Ministry of Science and Technology, Integrated Circuit Design Research and Education Center (ICDREC) announced the successful research of state-level science and technology project ' Design and manufacture of chips and cards , RFID reader and application system construction '.
The project is implemented in 4 years (2011-2015) with a total budget of nearly VND 146 billion, of which nearly VND 125 billion is paid by the Ministry of Science and Technology (Science and Technology). This project is invested with the largest research fund ever.

Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien, Deputy Head of High Technology Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology congratulated the success of the research team and said the success of the project affirmed its position and strengthened the science and technology sector in the world. Mr. Chien also hopes that the product will attract the attention of enterprises, apply to many useful products in life.
RFID is a radio-frequency identification technology, which has flourished in the world in recent years. RFID chip HF is as compact as card, bracelet . to make it convenient for users. It contains and encodes necessary information in digital form.
Typical application of RFID technology such as attendance, cargo management, product traceability, identity card, driver's license, passport, super-fast payment, door lock, elevator, vehicle maintenance, management luggage checked by air .

According to statistics, the value of using RFID chips globally is about $ 9 billion and will rise to over $ 27 billion in the next few years due to increasing demand. But now Vietnam has to import from abroad to use to make Vietnam dependent on technology as well as not create high value surplus.
Mr. Ngo Duc Hoang - Director of ICDREC - said the chip has a strong prospect in Vietnam market in the coming years.'From RFID chips, reading and writing devices, it helps automate the human management step in and out, protect public assets, statistics necessary data to analyze and improve the quality of human resource management .', Mr. Hoang said.
At the project announcement, a large Japanese and Vietnamese enterprise signed a contract to coordinate product development with ICDREC to conduct commercialization based on research results.
