Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Van, Director of vaccine production company and biological product No. 1 (National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology), H5N1 vaccine production unit said, according to regulations, the first phase of the vaccine testing process H5N1 will last 56 days.

After the first injection, volunteers will be monitored closely and will have three blood tests for antigen and confirm the safety of the vaccine. Next to the 28th day after the first injection, these 30 volunteers will continue to receive the second H5N1 nasal vaccine. After this second shot, they will also continue to be monitored and tested for blood.

According to Associate Professor Doan Huy Hong - Head of Military Epidemiology Department, Military Medical Academy, the first phase is mainly to consider and check the safety of H5N1 vaccine. If everything in the period of a favorable development, the Military Medical Academy will work with the vaccine manufacturing company and the No. 1 biological product to continue the second phase, with the number of volunteers participating in the injection is 240 people and prolonged. in 90 days.

In the second phase, the focus will be on assessing the vaccine's ability to produce immune antibodies. In addition, in the second phase, it will be divided into five groups for injection at different doses for pre-clinical assessment to quantify the vaccine dose accurately and effectively.

Earlier on March 6, 10 members of the group volunteered to inject the first A / H5N1 vaccine vaccine test. Before the second injection, the health of the injection team was still normal, eligible for continued vaccination of the second shot on schedule.

On April 3, the vaccine company and the No. 1 biological product conducted the second injection of H5N1 vaccine for 10 people who are members of the H5N1 vaccine team. This injection is to check the safety of H5N1 vaccine.

The H5N1 Vaccine must meet the standard requirements used for new licensees and officially put into production.
