>>>Vitamin E increases the risk of stroke?
The team led by Shu Takeda at Keio University in Tokyo said their findings could affect people using vitamin E. supplements.
The researchers explained that maintaining a balance between bone-forming cells (osteoblast) and osteoclast (osteoclast) keeps the bones strong.
Although previous studies suggest that vitamin E may be beneficial for bone health, the new study published March 4 in the Japanese journal Nature Medicine proves the opposite, because This nutrient seems to activate the mechanism of producing osteoclasts.
Vitamin E
Research has shown that mice that lack vitamin E actually have higher bone mass because of a lower rate of bone decline.
Meanwhile, healthy mice fed a diet with the same vitamin E content in normal functional foods for humans were reduced in bone mass.
Dr. Robert Graham, an internal medicine doctor at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, agrees."Bone health is a constant battle between bone-forming cells and osteoclasts," he said.
Understanding this cell war : 'plays an important role in understanding how vitamin E can affect our bone health'.
The new study attracted attention because previous studies in the laboratory and on mice have yielded conflicting results.
However, according to Graham, more research is needed to better understand the mechanism of vitamin E activity in human bones because the above results are only obtained from mice.
