Fahrelnissa Zeid started drawing pictures from childhood and portraits from 12 years old. Her father was Mohammad Shakir Pasha, a diplomat, general, photographer and historian.
Fahrelnissa Zeid, along with many of her family members, is considered a model of Ottoman intellectualism.

Fahrelnissa Zeid was one of the first women of the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul in 1920, where she attended Turkish painter Namik Ismail.
In 1928, she came to Paris and was trained at the studio of Stahlbach and Roger Bissìere at the Académie Ranson.
In the 1930s, she married the Hashemite Royal family in Iraq. Later, she became the mother of Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid and the grandmother of Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad.
Fahrelnissa is famous for its large-scale abstract paintings, using drawings, lithographs and sculptures. Her work blends elements of Eastern Islamic and Roman art with abstraction; At the same time the work is also influenced by the West.
Her work is on display in many places in Paris, New York and London as the Contemporary Art Institute in 1954.
In 1976, she founded Jordan Fahrelnissa Zeid Royal Art Academy. For the next 15 years, she taught and instructed a group of young women until her death in 1991.
In 2017, Tate Modern, a modern art gallery in London held an exhibition to look back on Fahrelnissa Zeid's past. Here, she was honored as "one of the greatest female artists of the 20th century".
Her most famous work is Towards a Sky (1953) auctioned in 2017.
