It was Ms. Chen Shu Chu (pictured) (62 years old), a woman selling simple vegetables in the market of Taitung, Taiwan. Over the past 20 years, Ms. Chen has raised $ 231,800 to help many disadvantaged people.

This financial source is mainly taken from the income of Mrs. Chen's vegetable shop. Her charity has brought a new life to many people, mainly women and children.

Because of that, the Philippine Ramon Magasaysay Awards Organizing Committee - the award that is considered 'Asian Nobel' - has awarded the title and appreciation of Ms. Chen's noble deeds. The awards committee said that Ms. Chen was honored for her pure altruistic personality, deeply reflecting the compassionate compassion between people for people.

When the reporter approached Ms. Chen in the Taitung Vegetable Market, Ms. Chen said it was uncertain whether she could attend the awards ceremony scheduled for August 31. However, Taiwan's diplomatic agency said they will contact Ms. Chen and will assist her to come to Manila to receive the award.
