You: Fat-rich foods can be taxed
The issue of tax on fat-rich foods is set in the UK, when Queen's Medical Center researchers propose three taxes, aimed at reducing the situation of about one-quarter of obese British people.
Accordingly, the first tax rate is aimed at foods with high saturated fat content; the second tax is aimed at unhealthy foods and the third applies more to foods high in fat, salt and sugar.
Scientists claim that 3,200 deaths per year from cardiovascular diseases (derived from obesity) can be avoided in the case of the third tax selected.
Previously in 2004, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair dismissed all ideas about a tax imposed on fat foods. Instead, the former prime minister advocated launching national campaigns to encourage people to play sports and have a balanced diet for themselves.
