5 healthy oral habits to maintain
People often use hard brushes because they think they are clean. This habit is easy for you to wear away enamel.
>>>Reasons to take good care of your teeth
Everyone wants a bright smile, but oral health is often overlooked. Speaking on Bodyandsoul, Dr. Peter Alldritt, Chairman of the Oral Health Committee, Australian Dental Association (ADA), listed five healthy habits for the mouth, teeth and gums that everyone should start from today if you want healthy teeth.
1. Maintain a healthy diet
Diet is Dr. Alldritt's first proposal for strong teeth. Many studies have provided evidence that diet affects every aspect of the body. Sugar tooth decay is a significant danger, Alldritt said, adding that eating acidic foods can cause tooth erosion and dissolve the enamel on the surface, making the teeth thinner. This situation is not renewable. Even unsweetened fruit, energy drinks and soft drinks are also acidic.
2. Good oral hygiene
"Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste , " advises Dr. Alldritt. Specifically, brush your teeth in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before going to bed. Flossing once a day before going to bed is ideal. If you go to bed with your teeth cleaned, bacteria will not be able to reside in your mouth.
Many people have a habit of using a hard brush to brush their teeth because they think it will be cleaner. This is very wrong thinking. Dr Alldritt said: "People use hard brushes instead of a soft brush, which makes your teeth at risk of abrasion. Therefore all dentists often recommend that we use a table. soft brush ".
3. Drink tap water
Tap water is the main source of hydration. Tap water, sugar-free water or acid that contains flour to help strengthen tooth enamel, increase the ability to fight tooth decay.
4. Visit the dentist regularly
For patients with good oral health, visit a dentist once a year. People with multiple cavities, deep holes or other dental problems should visit a dentist at least once every 6 months because they have many dental problems that need treatment and prevention.
"Prevention is better than cure. Remember that dentists will check your gum disease and oral cancer for you. Children one year and older need to see a dentist every 6 months , " the doctor. Alldritt advises.
5. Wear a plastic mouth guard when playing sports
Many people think wearing plastic protectors is not good for exercise. However, according to dentists, this routine is very good."The consequences of casual injuries that occur in the mouth are serious and can be left to hurt for a lifetime. For example, a stain is easy to happen when playing sports or in a fight. You should remember that it is a part of care and protection , " Alldritt noted.
