A series of errors in DNS software were detected

Research experts at the University of Oulu (Finland) have discovered many vulnerabilities in Internet domain name management systems (DNS). Cisco, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems are checking whether their customers are affected.

These errors can be exploited by hackers to "cause various problems", such as malfunctioning DNS servers or facilitating illegal software hackers.

Oulu experts have released a bug test suite and many also offer DNS management tools, including Juniper Networks and Internet Software Consortium ( ISC ), which also acknowledge some of its products. they were gaping. However, the error in the BIND software ( Berkeley Internet Name Domain ) of the ISC is rated "not serious". Meanwhile, Hitachi and Wind River claimed to be unaffected.

DNS servers are being tightly controlled because some recent attacks have shown that they can be completely controlled to massively crash multiple websites.

Last month, Internet service company VeriSign (USA) announced a cybercrime group had controlled computers and domain servers to perform denial of service (DDoS) attacks against about 1,500 organizations.
