In addition to the above-mentioned patients, Dr. Hien is currently treating patients with NMT, 25 years old (in Dong Da, Hanoi) suspected of being infected with H5N1. Five days ago, Mrs. T.'s mother bought ready-made chicken from the market for all four family members to eat. However, then only Mrs. T. became ill. Two days later, she got better, but on the morning of November 1, Mrs. T. had chest discomfort, difficulty breathing and had to be admitted to Bach Mai hospital.

At present, Bach Mai Hospital sent samples of patients with death and Mrs. T. went to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for testing. On November 3, Dr. Le Quynh Mai, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene and Epidemiology, said: There is no final conclusion about these two specimens.

* In order to prevent and fight against avian influenza, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has developed 3 teams of influenza epidemic prevention and control to increase support for localities in the situation of epidemic outbreaks. At the same time, very strict disease monitoring is organized in places where vaccination of poultry flu vaccines is carried out at all health and veterinary routes in 47 provinces and cities; organizing key supervision in 5 provinces: Thai Binh, Ha Tay, Qung Binh, Ben Tre and Dong Thap.

It is expected that by the end of 2005, the Institute will complete the installation of equipment and put into use a third-level biosafety laboratory to diagnose and test pathogens caused by avian influenza and SARS viruses.
