The conclusion once again confirms the recent evidence that the rapid eye movement (REM) period - the time when the most vivid dreams occur - plays an important role in the ability to strengthen the mind. Remember the brain. Our nightly sleep averages 4-5 such REM cycles and they tend to be longer when the sky gets brighter. This means that people who sleep less than 7-8 hours will lack REM sleep and therefore affect their ability to store intact memories.
In the University of California study, participants were asked to find a word related to all three words that scientists gave. After the first lesson, the volunteers took a break. Some sleep for a while, others sleep deeply to reach the REM stage and the rest just relax. After that, they did the exercise again, the REM sleep group did 40% better, while the other two groups did not improve.
