Egyptian archaeologists discovered 30 workshops in the industrial zone, according to a notice from the country's Ministry of Antiquities. The area consists of several warehouses and a place where scouring of burial objects is made, with large quantities of ceramics dating from the 18th Dynasty (1549 - 1292 BC), said lead researcher Zahi Hawass.
Researchers have been working in the Monkey Valley on the western bank of the Nile in Luxor since 2017. The production area has large canals and water storage tanks for workers to use. The team of archaeologists also found a beetle ring, hundreds of mosaic beads and gold items to decorate the royal coffin and winged mosaic of Horus.
Hawass and his colleagues also discovered a tomb in the Valley of Kings and the tools that the ancient Egyptians used to build the royal tomb. They are continuing excavations in search of the lost tombs of the wives and sons of the 18th Dynasty kings.
