Application of rain spraying technology in Ly Son island

In the past, farmers in Ly Son island district - Quang Ngai only use traditional manual irrigation in agricultural production, now many households use rain sprinkler technology.

This form of irrigation is both labor-saving and saving water resources, bringing about high crop yields.

For a long time to provide irrigation for onions, garlic, watermelon, beans ., people on the island often use soft plastic pipes, and then hold them on hand to irrigate. Each time watering, in addition to directly holding the front spray pipe, workers need to have a wire supporter behind so that when moving the sprinkler pipe, it is not damaged by the pipe.

But recently, many people have used rain sprinkler technology to irrigate crops. This type of irrigation helps plants grow and develop well, bringing higher productivity, while people save time and labor.

Mr. Pham Truong, Tay village, An Vinh commune said that hand watering is very strong, the amount of water supplied to the plants in the places is less, more places . making the trunk of garlic, onion, watermelon which is very soft so it is often crushed and broken, which greatly affects the growth, development and productivity of plants. Also using rain sprinkler system, the water spray is very light and uniform so it does not affect the trunk and leaves of the tree.

Therefore the productivity of garlic, onion, green beans . increased by 10-30% compared to traditional irrigation.

In addition, sprinkler irrigation saves 30 to 50% of the fresh water required to irrigate compared to the previous traditional irrigation method. This is very important because the fresh water source in Ly Son island is very limited.

However, in order for the sprinkler system to operate effectively, the water source must have great pressure and the initial investment cost to build is relatively high.

According to calculations at the present time, to install rain sprinkler system for each acre of land (500m 2 ), production needs to invest an amount of 8-10 million VND / sao, not including the cost of drilling wells.

With the economic conditions of the people of Ly Son island district, there are still many difficulties, this is a rather large initial budget. Therefore, if supported by the government, farmers will agree to respond to the installation of sprinkler irrigation systems on the fields of onion, garlic, .

Currently, although there are only about 100 households with a total area of about 20ha on a total of more than 300ha of cultivated agricultural land, garlic, watermelon, green beans . of Ly Son island district use this type of irrigation but with many benefits. practical benefits, in the season to Ly Son island district, there will be more families using rain spraying in agricultural production.
