Since more than two years, the government has had to apply a water restriction level 5 (maximum level) in all activities of people in Goulburn (25,000 people). Here, all forms of car washing and gardening are prohibited. The level of water used by households is limited to 150 liters / day. Meanwhile, the reservoir water reserves at the Pejar dam, the main source of supply for this area, is only 3.1% of the capacity.

According to many people, water shortage has strongly affected the spirit of the community. Under this situation, the government has issued a decision since July, all irrigation work in the Murray-Darling river basin (southeast) will be banned.
