Beta 3 of Longhorn server will be released in early 2007
Beta 3 only verifies performance and quality control issues.
Microsoft will release Beta 3 of the next Windows Server version - Longhorn server in the first half of 2007.
Longhorn is expected to have all the components and only to verify the performance and quality issues before the first Release Candidates was released.
Important new feature in Longhorn is the ability to help administrators manage the operating system more easily with advanced security components. Longhorn beta 3 has added all the proposed user functions and requirements after using Windows Server 2003, the current version of Windows Server.
Earlier in May, Microsoft said it would release Longhorn beta 3 in early 2007 but did not say when it was more specific. According to Bob Visse, director of Microsoft's Windows Server marketing department, the company will continue to release late versions of the server operating system by the end of next year.
Two days ago, Microsoft released Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2003 patches and updates. This is a stepping stone to IT administrators preparing hardware running Windows Server to deploy to the upcoming Windows Vista. . Windows Vista, a long-awaited Windows upgrade, will be officially released to business customers at the end of the month.
