Researchers have investigated whether the increased risk of cardiovascular disease is due to the occurrence of menopause or vice versa. They found the answer by looking at the data of a study called ' Framingham ' of the United States that tracked 700 women since 1948. As a result, women with the highest cholesterol rates before menopause are early menopause, similar to women with hypertension and overweight.
