The results of this study are equivalent to human gene mapping in the field of metabolism, allowing cataloging and characterization of about 2,500 metabolites, ie organic substances involved in metabolism or muscle can produce.

According to Dr. David Bailey, Chairman of the Canadian Genetic Association, the results of the study will have an important impact on the diagnosis, prevention and monitoring of many genetic, infectious or environmental diseases.

After decoding the human gene, many researchers have conducted the analysis of metabolites to understand the regulatory mechanism of genes so far is still a mystery.

The study was published in Nucleic Acids Research magazine.
