Chinese archaeologists have discovered the remains of an ancient citadel from the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD) and a series of tombs of the ancient Koguryo dynasty located in the middle border area of China. Korea and North Korea.

The ruins were discovered during the repair of the Yunfeng reservoir in the remote mountainous area to the northeast.

The ancient citadel is now covered with mud and a square area and is surrounded by a wall 1.5 m high and 4 m wide. There are also traces of a moat running around the ancient city.

The western city wall is 180 m long and the 6 m wide gate remains intact, along with the north wall of 220 m long. The East is obscured by the foundations of houses built in recent years and the South is destroyed by water from a nearby branch. More than a dozen graves are also found in the citadel.

Based on the structure and style of construction, the researchers identified the ancient city as being built during the Han Dynasty. The group also found a cemetery of 2,360 individual tombs, also in the lake area but 20 km from the ancient citadel. This massive grave may belong to the Koguryo kingdom, which existed from the 1st century to the 5th century AD.

The researchers identified this finding as important in understanding the history of ethnic minorities in northern China.
