Thai Son Station is named after the mountain of the same name in Shandong Province - one of the 5 sacred mountains according to the Chinese Taoist concept. This station is located in a place where the average annual temperature is about minus 36.6 ° C, started in December 2013.

Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the inauguration of Thai Son Station and stressed that polar scientific research is extremely important, contributing to the natural discovery and development of the people. species.

Xinhua News Agency reported that Thai Son station undertook research on atmospheric science, geology and geomagnetic at Antarctica. The station has the same structure as the Chinese red lantern. The country is planning to build a fifth research station here.

Beijing established its first research station in Antarctica in 1985. To date, 30 countries have set up scientific research stations in the continent.
