Psychologist Thomas Goetz and his colleagues at Konstanz University in Germany say there are four types of depression. The first is carefree depression. It means to be surrounded by boredom, tired but still able to control in balance. Simply put, you don't care about the world and want to record it in your shell.

The second type is depressed to be normed. At this time, emotions have been stimulated more and tend to be slightly negative. The person in this state wants to do something but doesn't know what to do. Simply put, they are vague, "sad but not understanding why sad".

Finding boredom is the third category that experts say. People in this state are always restless, like to follow emotions and always have negative thoughts.

The last kind of depression that Goetz and his colleagues admit will make us the most negative reactions . People in this state are always dissatisfied, unhappy, even angry, aggressive with people around them.

In order to measure the most accurate boredom, scientists have equipped 63 university students and 80 high school students in Germany with a portable personal digital device (PDA). These machines were programmed to randomize 6 times a day, causing participants to answer a series of questions about how they felt at the time. If the answer is bored, participants continue to be interviewed about their current mood when experiencing that sadness.

Surprisingly, the experts discovered the 5th type of depression called "boredom indifferent" . They found that people who experienced this apathy were also negative emotions but did not cause a strong reaction such as aggression or irritability to people around them.

These people often do not care about things around them, do not express emotions clearly at each problem, to them, just "ignore", heartless with everything, easily lead to depression.

Through the study, experts say, depression may sound like harmless but don't underestimate its destructive power. Trying to look straight at the problem, you can avoid this deadly trap.

The study was published in Motivation and Emotion.
