Computers know emotions

Recently, Spanish scientists have developed a computer system that is able to identify the diverse emotional state of people during the communication process thanks to the sound analysis system.

Scientists at the universities of Carlos III de Madrid and Universidad de Granada have created a computer system that is able to recognize the emotional states of the person who can then adjust the level that makes the story less stress.

The system analyzes 60 audio parameters in the user's voice, including intonation, speed, pause time and the energy of the voice from which to identify specific negative emotions such as anger, depressed, or suspicious.

The system not only concludes the user's mood but also predicts how the story will evolve thanks to the statistics collected from previous conversations. For example, when the system is constantly not recognizing what a person is saying or asking for information that has been mentioned, the computer will indicate the speaker is angry or depressed. After determining the speaker's mood and intent, the system can adjust the conversation accordingly.

The shorter the conversation, the higher the efficiency of the system. Scientists hope the technology can be combined with a system that identifies the status of computer users through the face.
