Instead of falling back into the river for a long time, the sludge discharged from water plants in Ho Chi Minh City was first treated to produce normal soil organic matter.

Currently in HCMC, water from the river is taken and put into water treatment plants. Here the water is separated from dirty substances to give clean water to the people. The remaining dirt is mud which is dumped by water plants back into the river, polluting the water source. This fact makes the city compute the sludge treatment plan to protect the environment.

"This is the first time the city is interested in treating sludge from water plants, because most of the mud from these plants is flowing into the river. For example, Thu Duc water plant dumps this kind of waste. Cai stream flows into Saigon river " , Mr. Pham Douglas Huey, Chief Representative of CDM International Inc. (CDM) in Vietnam said.
