In the past, people did not live long and medicine was not developed enough to identify cancer; today the lifestyle and longevity make the disease popular .

Today, it seems that each of us has relatives or friends who have or have had cancer. This disease is becoming more popular than ever and is considered a problem of modern society. Why does this happen? According to Medicaly Daily, lifestyle factors such as smoking, sedentary, poor diet and long life span make people more likely to get cancer.

The first cancer case in the world was recorded in 2625 BC by Imhotep, the ancient Egyptian doctor. He found "bulges on the breast, spread out, like an unripe fruit; cold and hard" , common signs of breast cancer. Abdominal cancer and other tumors were also found in many Egyptian mummies. In the preserved body of a young woman of the Chiribaya tribe in the Atacama desert, a large tumor appeared from the bone through the skin.

Thus, cancer has existed for a long time. At a time when people are worried about plague, flu, tuberculosis and smallpox, cancer reports are rare. This is because humanity does not live long enough to develop cancer and doctors cannot identify the disease correctly.

By 1900, cancer became the 8th most common cause of death in the United States. In 1950, the average life expectancy increased by 21 years and cancer jumped to second place on the list of causes of death, only after heart disease. The risk of cancer increases with age. For example, a man aged 49 or younger had only one of 304 possible prostate cancer, but when he reached the age of 70, this rate was 1/9.

The good news is that cancer patients have more chances to survive. In 2013, the American Cancer Society reported a 20% reduction in cancer-related mortality compared to the previous 20 years. This achievement comes from efforts in education, screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Moreover, many cancers have been prevented. In 2010, nearly 1.5 out of 8 million deaths from cancer in the world were caused by cigarettes. The factors such as overweight, obesity, lack of movement and anti-scientific eating leads to 20% of global cancer cases.

The combination of longevity and lifestyle affects health, so stand up and control your life.
