Dengue fever outbreaks in Thailand
According to a Thai Ministry of Health official, in the first six months of this year, there were more than 21,000 dengue patients in the country, of which 17 died.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of dengue cases in Thailand increased by 36%. According to Vichai Stimai, Thai Ministry of Health official, dengue situation this year was worse than the previous year due to the early rainy season making the mosquitoes rapidly proliferate causing outbreaks.
The number of dengue cases is also increasing rapidly in ASEAN member countries, such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore. Last week, Cambodia announced only in June that it had 132 deaths from dengue fever and asked Thailand for medical assistance. In Singapore, there were 3,597 people infected and 3 died.
