Dentures from crocodile egg shells
Until now, crocodile eggs and bones are only waste. But recently, Thai scientists have discovered that this is a good material for making artificial teeth and artificial bones for humans.
Experts of the Department of Chemistry at the Thai National University of Agriculture have successfully created artificial teeth and artificial bones from eggshell and crocodile bones.
Calcium Hydroxyapatite (HA) is the main ingredient in hard body such as teeth and bones. In developed countries, scientists often use birds' eggshells to make Calcium Hydroxyapatite, so the price is relatively high.

In Thailand, most crocodile farms often throw away eggshells and crocodile bones as a waste, but researchers from the Department of Chemistry at the Thai National Agricultural University have discovered that jaws Calcium Hydroxyapatite in eggshell and crocodile bones are very high.
Each gram of crocodile bones can extract up to 80% Calcium Hydroxyapatite. In addition, there are many Calcium Carbonate in bone and eggshell of crocodile. Other natural wastes such as shells, dead corals . can be extracted Calcium Hydroxyapatite.
This finding is good news for Thailand's bone and dental implant industry because it can reduce costs. In the future, Thailand will gradually reduce imported products, because Thailand is currently importing Calcium Hydroxyapatite at very high prices. Price of 0.1 gram Calcium Hydroxyapatite amounted to about 26,000 Bath.
The results of this research are currently in the process of copyright registration. This result has made use of local materials to produce Calcium Hydroxyapatite, which has a great effect on Thai chemical industry.
