Scientists from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and their partners have discovered a bat species in Truong Son forest area, named Indochina feather bat.
This bat species was discovered living in the forests of the Truong Son range running along the border of the three Indochina countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Standard samples of species collected in evergreen, less impacted forests of Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve, Kon Tum Province, Vietnam.

Sub-standard samples were obtained in Pu Hu Nature Reserve, Nghe An, Vietnam and Virachey National Park, Ratanakiri, Cambodia.
According to scientists, up to now, the ecological characteristics of Indochinese hairy bat species have hardly been studied. The fact that these bats live only in primitive or less affected forests of the Truong Son range shows that they can be one of the species with limited ecological limits, specializing in dense forest canopy.
According to scientists, it is because of this adaptive feature that the Indochinese Beetle species as well as many other wild animal and plant species have been facing many threats, mainly because of their residence and Their feeding has been degraded due to the loss of natural forests in the Truong Son range over the years.
Scientists propose, to avoid the many species of wildlife living in the Truong Son range that may disappear before they are discovered, departments and agencies need to continue to promote protection and development. Forests, while expanding the implementation of research programs to explore the potential biodiversity values here.
